What are your containers made from?
The SMARTBOX is constructed out of wood with pressure treated lumber at the bottom of the box to protect your belongings from groundwater or rain when your box is on your property. We have used a heavy-duty wood frame and there are 44 industrial-grade fasteners throughout each box. The wood construction allows the box to “breathe” while stored in our climate controlled storage facility. Metal or aluminum boxes can sweat and experience interior condensation when the humidity and temperature change. When the SMARTBOX is out of our storage facility, it is covered with a heavy-duty, water-proof cover to protect your belongings. ^ Top
Are SMARTBOX containers water-proof?
SMARTBOX containers are weather resistant. The state-of-the-art materials used in our covers insures that your belongings will be protected from the weather. In addition, our smaller box size minimizes the surface area impacted by wind, so our boxes hold up better in windy conditions. ^ Top
How is SMARTBOX different from other moving and storage options?
First, SMARTBOX delivers the container to you and we pick them up. You don’t need to rent a truck and you don’t need to pack and unpack your belongings twice. You can save up to 75% of your time versus traditional storage methods. So, you enjoy the incredible convenience of Portable Storage. Second, the smaller size of the SMARTBOX makes us more affordable than other portable solutions. Don’t pay for what you don’t need. Our box size allows you to place our box in more convenient locations and it allows you to split your moves between multiple destinations. Third, our Moffett delivery system keeps your contents level and allows us to gently load and unload your belongings and conveniently position the container on your property. How safe will my belongings be?
Only you will have a key to your container. Our storage facility utilizes state-of-the-art security systems and is equipped with a high-pressure fire suppression sprinkler system. Our Moffett delivery system minimizes the shift of contents while moving your container. By using Portable Storage, you help prevent damage to your belongings. By loading your things only once into the SMARTBOX, you are cutting your chance of damage in half versus traditional storage. Finally, the smaller size of the SMARTBOX was chosen because of its proven advantage in helping to prevent damage, since it is easier to securely pack belongings in several smaller containers than one large container. ^ Top
How many SMARTBOX containers should I order?
Each SMARTBOX holds 1 to 1 ½ rooms of your belongings. This allows you to organize and protect your things by separating your nice furniture from your lawn equipment and charcoal grill. The container will hold anything you want to put into it, including oversized furniture. ^ Top
Will my large household item fit in a SMARTBOX?
Yes! The SMARTBOX is large enough for sofas, refrigerators, entertainment centers, washers, dryers, freezers, dressers, beds and most all other household items. Each unit will hold up to 2000 lbs and is designed for easy loading. ^ Top
I need more than one SMARTBOX container but there is not enough room in front of my home/office. How can you address this?
We can deliver up to 7 SMARTBOX’s in a single delivery. Unlike larger Portable Storage units, the smaller size of the SMARTBOX makes them more nimble and allows us to place them in several different locations (driveway, side yard, alley, etc.) around your home/office. We can also stagger deliveries and pick-ups. ^ Top
If I can't fill an entire container, what do I do?
SMARTBOX containers are designed to allow for partial loads. There are eyehooks for tie downs within the unit to permit a secure load. Also, if you do not use a container that we deliver to you we will take it back at no charge to you. ^ Top
How do you load the container?
One of the advantages of the SMARTBOX is that you load your things at ground level. The base of the box is just inches off the ground and the opening is large. So, both loading and unloading is much safer and easier than using a Rental Truck with a rickety loading ramp. When you are done loading you simply place your lock on the container and you can either give us a call for pickup or store on your property. ^ Top

How long do I have to load or unload the container?
SMARTBOX allows you to pack your container at your own pace. You don’t have to rush because the fee covers a whole month. Since you don’t have an expensive daily truck rental you don’t have to finish in a day and you don’t need to bribe your friends and family. Pack on a weekend, after work, during the day. Take all the time you need. ^ Top
How can I order a SMARTBOX container?

How fast can I get a SMARTBOX container?
You can often get a SMARTBOX the next day depending on availability. Our schedules fill up quickly though, so we recommend that your order or schedule your container as soon as possible. ^ Top
Do I have to be there when the SMARTBOX container is dropped-off or picked-up?
No. Our local office can work out the details of the delivery with you over the phone. Of course, if you have special placement requirements you may want to be present. Our deliveries and pick-ups may occur at any time after 7:00 am. ^ Top

How is a SMARTBOX container moved?
The SMARTBOX delivery truck is equipped with a unique lifting system using a specialized piece of equipment called the Moffett. The Moffett is designed to gently raise and lower your contents while keeping them level. This greatly minimizes the possibility of shifting and damage. Yet, the Moffett is surprisingly nimble and able to position your container in the most convenient location on your property. ^ Top
How does SMARTBOX prevent my contents from being damaged during the move?
The use of the Moffett lifting system greatly reduces the possibility of shifting or damage. Also, the smaller size of the SMARTBOX was chosen because of its proven advantage in helping to prevent damage, since it is easier to securely pack belongings in several smaller containers than one large container. Simply put, SMARTBOX’s “pack tighter”. Finally, SMARTBOX offers a comprehensive content insurance program for an additional fee. ^ Top
I don't know yet where I'm moving. How can SMARTBOX help me?
Through our SMARTCARE Long Distance moving program, we currently service 88 cities across the US and that list is growing. With SMARTBOX you pack and unpack your belongings only once. Most movers will pack and unpack your belongings several times when moving & storing, increasing the chance of damage. ^ Top
How long will it take for my container to be delivered to my new location?
Delivery time depends on a variety of factors, including availability of delivery vehicles, the distance to the delivery location and the time of year. Local moves can often be delivered within a day. Long distance moves will depend on several factors. For long distance moves we will work with you to develop a specific proposal, including delivery dates, to meet your needs. ^ Top
Do you pick-up and deliver on weekends?
Yes. We are open 6 days a week, including Saturday. In addition, we do not limit the time that the SMARTBOX container can stay on your property. Local ordinances may be applicable. ^ Top

What is special about a SMARTBOX Storage Facility?
The SMARTBOX Storage Facility is a secure, Climate Controlled facility where the temperature is maintained below 82 degrees with a humidity level of 65% or lower. We utilize state-of-the-art security systems and we are equipped with a high-pressure fire suppression sprinkler system. In addition, we are conveniently located. Also, with SMARTBOX, you have access to your container at the storage facility for no additional cost. Just call ahead. ^ Top
What are SMARTBOX Storage Facility hours?
The SMARTBOX storage Facility is open between 9 am and 5 pm Monday through Friday and 9 am and 1 pm on Saturday. ^ Top
What if I need to access my contents while they're in storage?
You can access your SMARTBOX anytime at our storage facility during normal business hours (9 am to 5 pm, Monday through Friday; 9 am to 1 pm Saturday). Simply call us and we will position your container in a convenient and safe place either inside facility (for inclement weather) or outside for easy access to your vehicle. There is no additional charge for this service. ^ Top
About Payment
What will it cost?
SMARTBOX pricing is simple and straightforward. Billing is on a monthly basis. There is a delivery charge that varies according to your location (usually $79) and a flat monthly fee of $75, plus tax. The delivery fee covers up to 7 containers for one round trip (from our storage facility to you and back to the facility for storage). There are no other hidden charges like the “administrative fees” that some of our competitors tack on. You will find that our pricing is significantly better than other portable solutions and better than traditional “drop off” storage facilities and you avoid the hassles of that method. Can I get insurance for my belongings?
Yes. However, first check with your insurance agent. Your homeowners or renters insurance may already provide coverage. If not, insurance is available to protect your belongings while in transit and storage for a nominal premium. ^ Top
Are there any hidden charges?
No. SMARTBOX pricing includes the delivery fee, and the monthly fee plus applicable taxes. There are no other hidden fees. You do have the option of buying packing supplies (boxes, locks, tape, etc.) and content protection insurance for an additional charge. ^ Top
How can I make a payment?
SMARTBOX accepts most major credit and debit cards including: Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover. We also accept checks and cash for local moving and storage. TheSMARTBOX billing cycle begins the day of initial delivery. ^ Top
What day is my storage rent due?
The SMARTBOX storage rent is due on the day of initial delivery and continues monthly thereafter until you are finished using the container. We offer an automatic payment plan. ^ Top
Do you prorate for unused days?
SMARTBOX does not prorate for monthly rates. However, we will work with you when scheduling your delivery and pick-up to minimize your charges. ^ Top
About Placement & Regulations
How much clearance do I need to place a container at my house or apartment?
One of the great advantages of the SMARTBOX container is its size. Our containers are 5 feet wide by 8 feet long and 7 feet high. This allows them to fit almost anywhere. You can fit two SMARTBOX’s in a single parking spot without affecting the other spots. With other portable alternatives you will require 3 consecutive parking spaces for delivery and pickup. ^ Top
Where will you put the SMARTBOX’s when you deliver them?
Anywhere a car can go, a SMARTBOX can go! It is rare that we have any difficulty placing the boxes in a convenient spot for loading. Our system allows us to operate in limited access areas. ^ Top
Are there any restrictions for using SMARTBOX?
SMARTBOX’s are permitted at most locations. There may be neighborhood or city regulations that affect the use of the containers. Because of the smaller container size, however, there tends to be less issues with SMARTBOX than other portable alternatives. ^ Top
Will a SMARTBOX delivery damage my driveway?
Absolutely not. A SMARTBOX weighs considerably less and has a much smaller footprint than most vehicles. Plus, the Moffett delivery system gently sets the containers on the ground minimizing any chance of damage. ^ Top
