How many SMARTBOX portable storage containers will I need?

Each unit can holds approximately one and a half rooms worth of furniture and other belongings. You can use our online space estimator or ask one of the experts at SMARTBOX of Maryland, Northern Virginia, and Washington, DC and we can provide you with an accurate estimate.

Will my large household items fit in a SMARTBOX container?

Absolutely! Our portable storage containers are eight feet deep by seven feet tall by five feet wide, making them large enough to accommodate a king size mattress and box spring, not to mention refrigerators and full-sized couches.

How do I access my belongings while they're stored with SMARTBOX?

When you need to get to your things while they're in our safe, temperature controlled storage facility, all you need to do is give us a call and we'll have your portable storage containers ready for you when you arrive.

How long do I have to pack my storage container?

You have as long as you need – that's the beauty of it! We rent our portable storage containers on a monthly basis, so you can pack at your own pace.

Approximately how much can a SMARTBOX portable storage unit hold?

Each unit can hold up to 3,500 pounds (nearly two tons) of furniture and belongings. Generally, each portable storage unit can accommodate up to one and a half rooms of furniture.

Are your containers weather-proof?

All of our SMARTBOX storage containers are made of a durable wood that allows for airflow into and out of the box, and they are equipped with an all-seasons weather resistant cover that will protect your belongings from the elements.

Will SMARTBOX load my containers for me?

If you'd rather have someone do the heavy lifting for you, SMARTBOX of Maryland, Northern Virginia, and Washington, DC can provide personal moving and loading services for you upon request.

Do I have to be there when the container is dropped off or picked up?

While it's not mandatory for you to be home when your portable storage is dropped off or picked up, it is highly recommended.

How long will it take for my SMARTBOX portable storage unit to arrive at my new location?

We have a delivery schedule and calendar so you can request specific days for your storage containers to be delivered to your new home, office, or other location; however, you should schedule early as some days fill up more quickly than others!

Where can my storage container be placed?

Your portable storage container can go anywhere a car can go! They can be set on the driveway or around the side of the house. As long as there is proper clearance for your portable storage, it can go wherever is best for you!

How secure are SMARTBOX containers?

Our containers are very secure! Each container comes with two butterfly clamps and a sliding hasp. You can affix a combination lock padlock to the container to protect your belongings while they’re in storage.

How much does SMARTBOX self-storage cost?

The price of your self-storage from SMARTBOX will vary depending on a number of factors, including how many boxes you need, the length of time you need the storage, and more. Learn more about the price of self-storage »
